Ladies Section
Possessing a general knowledge about a vehicle would always be useful for a lady driver. You need not be an expert on the subject but knowledge would help you to refrain from getting caught to wrong advice from various mechanics and spending unnecessarily for maintenance of your vehicle. Get a reliable mechanic introduced by a known party and entrust the vehicle only to him. Go with your gut feel; use your woman’s intuition when selecting a mechanic. Trust is the most important thing. Keep records and maintain files concerning repairs, replacements etc.
Routine checks should include the following:
1. Tires should be properly inflated (monthly or more often and if vehicle pulls left or right while driving) – low pressure adversely affects fuel consumption.
2. Spare tire should be present, in good condition and properly inflated (your life may depend on it).
3. Oil and filter should be changed every 3,000 - 5,000 miles depending on your vehicle model.
4. Radiator coolant should be present and accounted for, proper level.
5. Windshield wiper blades should wipe cleanly, may need replacement annually.
6. Wiper fluid for better visibility.
7. Head lights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals should all work well.
8. Brakes should be in good condition and quiet.
9. Brake fluid at proper level.
10. Transmission fluid present and accounted for at correct level.
11. All belts should be in excellent condition and replaced immediately when worn or dry.
12. Watch for leaks or weird smells. |
